Trisha Ward is a criminal law attorney with 19 years of legal experience. Licensed in Louisiana since April 14, 2007, she has built her career around criminal defense, constitutional law, and advocating for individuals facing serious legal challenges.

Trisha earned her Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Civil Law from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2007. She is admitted to practice before the Louisiana Supreme Court and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana.

A Career Built Around Advocacy

Trisha originally entered law school intending to pursue civil rights work. During her first year, however, her interest shifted after hearing from advocates including Sister Helen Prejean, Barry Scheck, and Stephen Bright about innocence and capital cases.

That experience shaped her career and led her toward criminal defense. Nearly two decades later, her commitment remains focused on standing up for clients and challenging government action when she believes it is wrong.

Criminal Defense and Constitutional Advocacy

Trisha has represented clients in serious criminal matters and has extensive experience advocating for defendants facing significant consequences.

Among her notable accomplishments, she argued State v. Carter before the Louisiana Supreme Court, where the court reversed and ordered evidence suppressed.

She also obtained dismissal of a second-degree murder prosecution on constitutional speedy-trial grounds after the case had been pending for eight years. Following an appellate reversal and an order requiring trial within 45 days, Trisha tried the case to verdict and won.
